Sorry, didn't mean to confuse you. Phillip Maunsell is our first known ancestor in England. He was a companion of William the Conqueror, who became King of England in 1066. Almost anyone in the US who goes by Maunsell, Mansell, Munsel, Munsell, etc., is a direct descendant of this person. Records on Phillip Maunsell can be found in most libraries under Heraldry. Look for Burke's Peerage, etc.
