To provide some information to aid in others' MURLIN research, I am posting some of the information I have thus far on my MURLIN family:
The MURLIN family was allied with the John WESLEY "non-conformist" movement in England, which later became the Wesleyan Methodist Church. [A brother of William MURLIN is buried in the same London chapel where John Wesley is buried, in case anyone is visiting London and cares to check it out. My mother saw the burial engraving in the 1970s when my parents traveled to England during Queen Elizabeth's Silver Jubilee celebration.]
1st generation in America (b. England):
William and Thomas MURLIN came to America before the 1790 Census. Family tradition has it they were in Pennsylvania first. William and Thomas MURLIN are both listed on the FTM Census CD 311 1790 PA, as well as the 1810 NY Census CD 313.
William MURLIN is also found on the following: 1820 NY Census CD 314, 1840 OH Census CD 316, 1850 OH Census CD 317, 1860 NY Census CD 318, 1880 OH Census CD 20.
Anyone who feels they are related to this family group can look these records up for themselves on the FTM CD's then refer to the census records for the counties indicated.
William MURLIN [1789-1850]shows up on the FTM Marriage CD 400
He lived with his wife and 14 children (10 sons and 4 daughters) near St. Mary's, Mercer Co. There were two sets of twins: Hannah MURLIN (Bender) and her twin (they were supposedly born in Hardin Co. KY); Abraham & Daniel MURLIN were the youngest. I have a photo of both sets of twins in their elderly years as well as one of Mr. & Mrs. Bender (Hannah).Abram & Daniel are with their wives.
Also have an old tin-type photo of another MURLIN --possibly Burdine?? who was md. to Clara and had 5 children at the time of his death in Paola, Miami KS on 25 Jan 1880/5: W.E. MURLIN, age 20; Z.A. MURLIN, age 17; Clara B. MURLIN, age 13; Dell MURLIN, age 11; and Burdine MURLIN (age 5).
Eight of William MURLIN's ten sons, including Abraham and Daniel MURLIN, enlisted to serve in the Civil War--only 1 lost his life. At 19, Abraham & twin Daniel enlisted from Mercer Co. in the OH 31st Infantry, Co. C. I have an old KS newspaper clipping about some of the twin brothers' Civil War experience, and another about a 70th? joint birthday celebration for the twin brothers. [Bro. Daniel MURLIN and his wife Mersey (sp?)CARBAUGH lived in Holden, MO and had a son, Herbert also of Holden MO.]
If anyone is interested in any of this additional info or obits, I will send this via email as well as Abram MURLIN's service record shown in a reference book from the Ohio State Archives.

IN d. 10 May 1923 Paola, Miami Co.KS [Marr.Records, Miami Co. KS Book A 1867-72, Pg. 296][Probate Packet 3896 - Miami Co. KS District Court].
"Tillie" SHIRLEY & Abraham MURLIN had 4 children - b. Sugar Creek Twp, Sumner Co. KS
3rd generation:
Mamie L. MURLIN (Cramer)b. 19 Apr 1872 in Wellington, KS, d. 30 May 1907 Paola KS; Frances "Frankie" Meredith MURLIN (Mead)(see below); Inez Shirley MURLIN (Connor, of Drexel & Kansas City MO); Homer A. MURLIN, of Oberlin KS(I have an obit; married twice); and Bessie M. MURLIN (Moody, of Cushing OK).
I have photos of each of the above siblings and most of their spouses/children.
3rd generation/my lineage:

Co. KS to Daniel Carroll MEAD [son of James K. MEAD of MO>KS md. 1866 Celia Ann OWEN-Edwards of IL>MO>KS; buried New Lancaster Cemetary, Miami Co. KS] b. 1871 d. 1936 near Jingo, Miami Co.KS. Frances & Daniel MEAD are buried in Jingo Cemetary, Miami Co. KS.
4th generation
Nine children of Frances & Daniel MEAD: Lyman Guy MEAD (died as as a youth), Edith LaNiece MEAD (Binkley), William Jennings MEAD, Daniel Carroll MEAD, George James MEAD, Kenneth Earl MEAD, Edna Shirley MEAD (Litson), Lloyd
Wayne MEAD, and Esther Frances MEAD (Shepherd). [All have passed away--in KS,TX,CA,MO,or in OR.]
My mother Esther Frances MEAD was b. 10 Dec 1913 Miami Co. KS; d. 28 Mar 1997 Los Angeles Co. She married 10 Feb 1945 San Diego CA to
James Robert SHEPHERD b. 31 Mar 1916 Ashburn, Turner Co. GA.
5th generation
