Willis Murlin was probably born in Mercer or Auglaize County, Ohio. He was the son of John Henry Murlin and Sarah Emily Hussey who married 9 April 1867 in Auglaize County, where Sarah's family lived. John & Sarah Murlin, and their 2 year old son Willis are enumerated in Salem Twp, Auglaize County in the 1870 census living in an extended household that includes some of Sarah's relatives. However, John H. Murlin was born in neighboring Mercer County and he and Sarah spent most of their married lives living in the village of Neptune in Mercer County where John ran his general store business. John & Sarah had 5 children, but three of them died young. Their only other surviving child was Harry E. Murlin born 25 Oct 1878 in Mercer County; he is my great-grandfather.

I have a lot of information about the Murlins I can share, and I would love to know more about Willis. All I know is that he moved to Indiana, and the names of his wife and children as listed in the book "The Murlin Clan".
