Am just now finding your 2001 post in response to my original post!--and I love it!
In the meantime, in summer 2000 I had visited the DAR Library in DC and found "The MURLIN Clan" book by Keith Wurster(hard to follow, tis true) and made copies of pertinent info). I understand there's an updated version available at a library in Indiana. Would like to actually order a copy for myself...have you heard how to get ahold of it???
I had found a DAR application files for women who were descended from John MURLIN and Sarah DODDERER and from William MURLIN (I) as well as Philip DUDDRA (both Rev. War Patriots). Fascinating information.
I had heard the story you told about the bevy of eligible daughters of John MURLIN in Hardin KY.
I have photos of both sets of twins born to William MURLIN (II)and Lydia BIGELOW: Abram and Daniel MURLIN and two sisters--but don't know their names. Do you know the sisters' names??? If they aren't twins, they sure look exactly alike.... I also have a tintype photo of Burdine MURLIN--wasn't he a brother of Abram & Daniel MURLIN??? or was he off another twig somewhere?
Thanks for sharing your wonderful stories. I had the opportunity to visit the Oneida area of NY in summer 2000 and travel a short distance on the Erie Canal with a MEAD-MURLIN cousin who has a nice boat with sleeper cabin(our grandmother was the daughter of twin Abram MURLIN, Frances Meredith MURLIN who md. Daniel Carroll MEAD in Miami Co. KS). I had hoped to visit the Finger Lakes region where William MURLIN (I)& his wife had lived, but unfortunately, did not have the time to squeeze in that side trip. One day....
You mentioned that you have lots more info to share. Would be interested in any more local information about my specific families and where they lived. My updated email address is now available for you to contact me in return.
Thanks so much for sharing!

I almost forgot! The Rev. John MURLIN was the brother of William (I) MURLIN and Thomas MURLIN (immigrants) -- and he was a Methodist Missionary, along with John WESLEY. My Mother and Dad visited London during the Queen's Silver Jubilee in the early 70s (was it 1972?) and found Rev. John MURLIN's burial site at City Rhodes Chapel in London, along with other Select Men of the Methodist Church where John Wesley is buried in London, England.
