This holiday season inspires me to inquire of other Murlin kin regarding their musical Murlin relatives. In researching my own family, I found in my father's (James Thompson Guilford) some gifted musicians that are directly related to his grandmother, Mary Jane Murlin. These people sit down at the piano and play music at four years of age. They, as adults, can pick up any instrument and play. They have perfect pitch and rhythm and you know that this is a "gift." As I got started with my Murlin research, there were two personal traits I wanted to know. The first was, did folks in their family have brown eyes. (The response was "No.") The second question was, "Are there musical people in your family?" I usually got a positive answer! "Oh, yes, Suzanne is director of music for the Celina schools." "Hubert played first violin for the Toledo symphony." "Well, yes. I am an engineer (accountant, teacher. . .), but I play gigs on the weekends here in town." Notify Administrator about this message?
