Hi Jeff:
The Murtaghs were from Longford [the town] in County Longford and her parents ran a butcher shop. From my notes they [the Murtaghs] apparently still do. Mary Murtagh's parents were Patrick and Alice Murtagh. The first child of John Macklin and Mary Murtagh was Alicia Macklin born 1814. That's about it. From there I can only follow it from the Macklin side.
I wrote to the Murtaghs in Longford a few years ago but there was not response.
