Martha,

Did you ever get any feedback? My grandfather was from SC. He fought for the South after enlisting at age 15 or 16 in Newberry County SC. If you have male descendants of John T. Wilson, perhaps we could do a DNA test to see if our lines match.

All the Murtishaws we have found go back to a Thomas Murtishaw b abt 1785 in SC and Mary/Meary, a Cherokee Indian. Thomas was the son of George Murtishaw, born about 1759-1761 and died about 1820 in Union Co. SC.
