That's interesting that they were Menonite. Makes me wonder if Tobias Ruffner, whom their daughter, Mary, married was also a Menonite. The Ruffners owned slaves which I believe is inconsistent with the beliefs of the Menonites. I'm finding this inconsistency elsewhere, as well. I don't know how these people, who typically professed such strong religious beliefs could carry on such a totally inconsistent and despicable practice, such as slavery.
