Dear Jan,
Could our Nancy (10th child of Asa and Penelope (BROWN) Musselwhite) be the Nancy you are looking for? Let me know what you think. Nancy is a common name but the Elifare/Ellafair name is used in this family, they are from GA and moved to FL abt 1870 and the time our Nancy was born is about right allthough I don't have an actual birth date for her.

Asa Musselwhite (b. abt. 1809 GA / d. abt 1890 Berrien Co. GA) and Penelope BROWN b.1818, mar May 1832, Pulaski Co. GA, were my husband's great great grandparents. I find them in the 1850 Lowdens Co. GA census, and the 1860 Berrien Co. GA census. Asa might have been married to a Martha befor Penelope.

Their Children were;
1) Patience or Patricia (b.1833)
2) Mary b.1838 (m.____ FORD)
3) Joseph (d. infant)
4) Eliza (m. _____ TAYLOR)
5) Harmon
6) Sarah A. (m. ____ BISHOP)
7) James R. b.1842 (m. Mary Jane FOOSE)
8) William or Wiley
9) John
10) Nancy
11) ***Uriah J. b.1850 (m. Eliza FOOSE) (my husband's g/grandparents)
12) Christain M. b.1853 (m. Moses FOOSE)
13) Emeline (m. _____ BOSTWICK)
14) Celia Elifare b.1858 (m. {1st} John BROOKS II, {2nd} Henry NETTLES)
15) Carmian b.1859.

James, Uriah, and Christain, married 2 sisters and a brother (surname spelled FOOSES / FUSE / FAUST) in Hamilton Co. FL. They were in Hamilton Co. FL, as early as 1870 according to land records. James R. and Christain's husband Moses FOOSE, were CSA veterens and recieved pensions. As far as we know Asa is buried at Alapha, Berrien Co. GA. but I have not located his grave. Do you think these guys may be tied to your MUSSELWHITES? Looking to hear from you,
Lynda Wright
