My mother's father was Moise Najar who lived a large part of his life in Cairo, Egypt. He told us that his family originated from Spain and the name came from where they lived. I have found Najarilla. They were millers in Spain and perhaps went to Syria after the Inquisition. Other Najars I have found in the US say that their name comes from Naggar meaning carpenter. It may not be the same family origin. Can anyone throw any light on the subject? Thank you
