John Neighbors, b. 1766, was the son of Abraham Neighbors, b. Sep 12, 1737 and Elleanor Jane Boyd. John & family left Laurens District after 1800 Census and moved to Franklin Co., Tenn. with several other Neighbors families. By Oct 9, 1810 he had moved to Madison Co.,Mississippi Territory (now Ala.) and remained there until about 1823. He then moved to Tuscaloosa Co. and he died there before 1830. I have not got a copy of a will or probate of property as yet.
He was married twice, first to Nancy Jane McLaughlin, b. 1775 in Laurens Dist., SC., then to Elizabeth D. I don't have proof of children, but from census, marriages,deeds, etc. I have put together a list which I believe is correct.
(1)John Neighbors, b. 1790-1800, married Drucilla Pringle Oct 13, 1828 in Tusc. Co.
(2) Rebecca Neighbors, b. 1790-1800 married a Rucker.
(3) Littleberry, b. 1790-1800.Was unmarried in 1830 Franklin Co., Tenn. Census. Died in Montevallo
(4) Martha Ann Neighbors, b. 1792 and married 1811 in Madison Co. to John Smith Jr.
(5)Nellie Neighbors, b. 1794-98 and married in Madison Co. on Oct 14, 1814 to Elijah Williams
(6)James McLaughlin Neighbors, b. 1797 and married Dec 1, 1826 to Caroline Mathilda Henry in Summerfield, Ala.
(7)Abraham Nabors, b. 1804 and married Mary A. He died in Montevallo
(8) John Boyd Neighbors, b. 1810-15 Madison Co. Never married. Died Montevallo.
(9)Pryor Neighbors,b.1799, married Rebecca Mitchell July 14, 1824 in Tusc. Co.
(10)Berryman Neighbors, b. 1805 and married Margaret Lunsford on Dec 24, 1826 in Tusc. Co
(11)Jolly Neighbors, b. abt 1808 and married Dec 22, 1829 in Tusc. Co.
(12)Matilda Neighbors, b. abt 1809 and married Abraham Isom on Feb 27, 1827 in Tusc. Co.
(13) Milly Neighbors, b. abt 1820 and married John McElroy on Aug 6, 1830 in Tusc. Co.
