Origins or Ethnicity of Nabors name?

My maiden name is Kendis Nabors and I am a native of California. I am interested in learning more about my heritage. I was told that the name was possibly Dutch or Austrian or German and that it may have been altered from Nabor to Nabors when ancestors arrived in America. Any help will be appreciated.
