I am researching a Daniel McNair who came from SC to Shelby Co., AL around 1818. He brought a 4 year old orphan with him named William Rupert Hadaway who was born in Abbeville Dist, SC in 1814.
Daniel must have died and a John H. McNair became guardian over William Rupert Hadaway until 1833 when in court John requested that he be released from guardianship.
William Rupert Hadaway's daughter Fannie states that her father was raised by Uncle Billy Johnson. It is known that a William Johnson that was in Shelby Co., AL was married to the sister of John McNair, but her name is unknown. It is possible that William Rupert Hadaway's mother was either a Johnson, McNair or a Nabors...as the Nabors were also part of the McNair Family.
Anyone that has any information about this line of McNair Family that left SC and went to Shelby Co., AL please email me. It is possible that the family left Alabama and went West to MS, TX, LA?? I just don't know.
