The only thing that I can add is that my grandmother on my mother's side was born a "Nabors". (Some of the same clan spelled their name as "Neighbours") Her given name was Eula Alemeda Nabors-Boyd (the family that adopted her). She married Manuel C. Pate about. 1918. When her biological mother (Lizzie Smith) re-married (James Levi Hull) she was given to the Boyd family in Wedowee, Alabama to raise. Whether the adoption was legal or not is unclear. And it is unclear as to what legal marriages took place with her biological mother prior to her marriage to James Levi Hull.
I am finding out that proper records were often either not kept, or lost or destroyed by fires, flood or whatever. This search has been arduous, I hope you have better luck!!
