Betty Jo, Thanks for the information on "Bartholomew" and where I can get a copy. I found a review of the first book and it appears to be more about the Bayou in Arkansas. Let me know if the "Song" covers more of Louisiana.
You and I have a common ancestor - Jonathan Lamar Naff, b ca 1831; d. Oct 31, 1875. His oldest son by his first wife, John Henry Naff b. 1854; d 1913 was my great grandfather. His daughter, Ida Catherine Naff b. 1878; d 1904 was my grandmother. She married Tom Day and my mother Inez Day, b. 1902; d. 1998 was my mother.
The Days are an interesting story in our ancestry. Jonathan Lamar Naff married first Hulda Palistine Hill and they had seven children. She died and he maried a widow Martha Ann (Day) Moore who had a daughter by her previous marrige to Peter Moore who died in the Civil War. Jonathan and Martha had two children including your ancestor James Ford Naff. (I remember Uncle Jim). Jonathan's oldest son John Henry married Martha's daughter Francis Eliza Moore. They were step brother and sister. Later James Ford married first Annie Rebecca Hausey. When she died he married Addie Lee Day and after she died he married her sister Mary Ann Day. Addie and Mary Ann were sisters to my grandfather Tom Day who married John Henry's daughter Ida Catherine. The latter Days were not related to Martha Ann Day Moore who was from Union Parish. See if you can figure this out.
