Hello,
Same answer: the Service historique de la défense. Officers are quite easy to trace, sub-officers and privates are less (there are soldiers' registers by regiment, but the Imperial Guard for example was a little army in itself, and included a lot of regiments). Plus, I don't know if the Service historique accepts to work by mail.
Then, there are the draft's registers. In France they've been quite well preserved, but I don't know if the German ones have been, and where in Germany they could be now?
