Hi-I am responding to a long shot here but severalthings made me - Branham, Weatherfoot (Indian?), Louisa County, Gibson, Nathan and WV.FOr a long time myself and others have been searching for info. on a Pinkard Brannon. We go back to his first name, Pinkard Napper.(document states mulatto) and living in Louisa County, VA.Rumor and family stories say he was child born of a woman who had an affair with an Indian.Shamed family, etc.WEll he changed his name to Branham or Bramham when he married Eliza GIbson.Eliza's father was Nathan Gibson and her mother was Lucy Shepherd.Later records (maybe it was marriage license, I don't have it in front of me.)indicate he was "white" and by his own declaration, dark complected, dark hair and eyes. Then, moved to WV, GIlmer County and changed his name to Brannon.Who are his parents? He was born approximately 1819 - 20 and fought on the Union side. Also ad 11 kids and several illigitimate ones.Supposedly past family in VA were fairly well-off.Surely someone remembers a name like Pinkard. He was also connected in some way to a tavern.Help. . .This story was hushed up.My great great grandpa.May he rest in peace.
