Hi Joy! Nice name! That is my aunt's name and she is a very respectable lady and I assume you're the same. I did a check for you on your Anson Bryan Cox and did not come up with much.
I found them in the 1910 United States Federal Census, living in Chocowinity, Beaufort County, North Carolina. Listed on the record were: Anson, age 53, Sophia age 47, Elix age 20, Lucy age 18, Hartford age 15, Daniel age 13, Sarah age 11, Jean age 8, Earnest (?) age 5 and Lillian age 3. You will find this record at your local library on page 7A or you can check it out on Ancestry.com.
You can also find them in the 1920 US Federal Census living in Chocowinity, Beaufort County, North Carolina. Listed on the record were: Anson age 62, Sophia age 51, Earnest age 14, Lillian age 13, Edna age 7 and Marjia Wilkinson age 13. Marjia is listed as a servant.
By 1930, Anson is still living and is listed in the US Federal Census, as (you guessed it) Chocowinity, Beaufort County, North Carolina, by this time and according to your message, Sophia was already dec. Living in the household was J.H. Stubbs, age 62, Mary age 61, Lula age 19, Charles age 15 and Anson age 73.
