William served in Co. G 20 Regt.N.C.Infanty. Enlisted at Fort Johnson May 10, 1862. Wounded at Gaines Mill, Va. June 27,1862. Returned to duty and was captured at Gettysburg July 1, 1863 Confined at Fort Delaware, Delaware and Point Lookout , Maryland. Exchanged at Aikens Landing, James River, Va. He had a brother Samuel B. Clemmons born 1829 in Lockwood Folly but I can't find any thing on him. I was not able to find a Samuel D. Clemmoms at all.

Hope this helps.
