Connie, Thanks AGAIN, for your information. The "Hargett" you found is, in fact, the right one. Mary Ellen (Ella), was my husband's grandmother. I have met both Berley and Claudine on different occasions, but don't know either of them personally. I was told in the past that we were suppose to be 2nd cousins to the famous Earnhardts, as "Granny" said that Dale Sr.'s father was a brother to William Frank Earnhardt, my husband's grandfather. Obviously, that isn't true. We are HUGE fans, and wished and hoped that there was some connection, but haven't found it yet. It was hard to believe that they all came from the same small town, but weren't related somehow. I really didn't mean to get you involved in my "project" when I asked you the questions. You have been more than generous with your time and efforts. I haven't been able to find much, and this has been very informative. I'm not surprised to hear that there's no marriage record for William Frank Sr. and Mary Ellen. I kind of wondered about that all along. She married a man named "Brown" later, supposedly, and that's where the Brown name came into play with my husband's dad. He started calling himself that in his teens, and didn't go back to Earnhardt much later. My husband has always been an Earnhardt, but he never knew anything about his paternal side of the family, so he was intrigued. We still don't know what to make of it all. Thanks so much for all of your help. If you find anything else, please let me know. And if you find out we're related to the Nascar Earnhardt's, it will be a dream come true, not only for me, but for my three boys who truly admire Dale Jr.! They were really hoping they were cousins! Take care......................Stacye Notify Administrator about this message?
