My ggggrandfather, Henry Noble, married Barbara Smith abt 1820 in Union County, Illinois. Barbara was born abt 1800 in North Carolina. Her parents were Andrew Smith and Catherine Halterman Smith. Andrew was born about 1775 and was baptized 3 Mar 1799 at Bethel Creek Church, Mt. Pleasant, Cabarrus County, North Carolina. It seems that the Smith family resided in Rowan County for several years.
In 1818-1819 Andrew and his wife Catherine Halterman and eleven children traveled with the Lyerlys, Gregorys, Rendlemans, Meisenheimers, and Hunsakers and other families. They traveled by oxen and the Smith's settled on the ridge or Alto Pass area, and around Cobden, Illinois.
I am searching for any additonal information on the Smith, Halterman, or Noble families.
