I need help finding information on the sons of Mark Cox, born in 1797 in Rowan (now Davidson) County, NC. If anyone has any information that can possibly help me, it would be appreciated. Mark was the son of David Cox, also born in Rowan Co in 1766, and Martha Cole. He married Mary 'Polly' Burkhead in Rowan Co in 1820. I need help identifying his sons. I have good reason to believe that my g-g-g grandfather Jesse D Cox, who was born in Davidson Co, NC in 1827 and died in Cabarrus Co, NC in 1911, was one of his sons. I also have information suggesting that he had at least two other sons - Kindred Muse Cox, born 1831 in Rowan Co and died in 1906 in Cabarrus Co, and Charles Cox, born c. 1822 in Rowan Co and died c. 1900 in Cabarrus Co. All of the information that I have been able to put together from the Rowan/Davidson and Cabarrus Co censuses from 1830-1900, as well as other little bits of information gleaned from various sources, seems to indicate that Jesse was in fact Mark's son. However, I have no direct evidence to definitively link them. That is what I am looking for. Here's a little additional information if anyone needs it. Mark and Mary possibly had several daughters - Charity, Susan, Jane, and Feribee. Mark died in Rowan Co in 1844. Mary died in Cabarrus Co between 1880 and 1900. Mark may have had a fourth son. I have seen references several times to a George W Cox who was the son of Mark Cox, the son of David Cox, from Rowan Co, NC. Also, the 1840 census record for Mark in Rowan Co shows four other males in the household, not three, as I had expected to find. If George was Mark's son as well, it would explain this finding. Mark is descended from Ephraim Cox, son of Gabriel Petersson Cock/Koch, son of Peter Larsson Cock/Koch from Sweden. I am 99% certain that Jesse, Kindred, and Charles are all Mark's sons. However, I am just looking for that one piece of information that proves it beyond any shadow of a doubt. Again, if anyone has ANY information about Mark at all, or even about any of his (possible) children, it would be greatly appreciated. Notify Administrator about this message?
