Right, that's not the John Cox I'm familiar with. I'll have to do some looking regarding the one you mentioned. Being in eastern Cabarrus County, I'd say there is a fairly good chance he and Jesse are related somehow. I'm just not sure. Also seems like there was a line of Coxes from Stanly County that was separate from mine. Again, I'll have to look into it more to verify that. I believe you are correct regarding the Muse and Birkhead families, although my knowledge of the two becomes very limited prior to the 1800's, so I'm sure you know a lot more about it than I do. Thanks for the reference to the supreme court case. I'll have to try to find it. Thanks for the help.
