Mark Cox married Mary 'Polly' Burkhead, daughter of James Burkhead and Charity Muse, in 1820 in Rowan County. I believe that Jesse D. and Kindred Muse Cox were sons of Mark and Mary.
I haven't seen the particular webpage that you provided a link for, but I did see one by the same author regarding the Love family of eastern Cabarrus County. Apparently, Jesse purchased his original 149 acres south of the Reid Mine from William A. Burkhead, one of Mary's brothers. Seeing how Jesse was never a wealthy man, it makes sense to me that the only way for him to obtain so much property would have been to acquire it from a relative. In this case, his uncle.
