State of North Carolina Caldwell County Be it known that befor me Israel P. Connelly a justice of the Peace in and for Cald County personally appeared Mrs. Elizabeth Hilton and Mary Thomas and made oath indeed form of claim that they are the daughters and the only children surviving of DANIEL SMITH desc. this identical pension record is an original certificate in their possession of which certifies the following is a true copy. War Department Revolutionary claims. I certify that in conformity with the law of the United States of the 7th of June 1832 DANIEL SMITH of the State of North Carolina who was a private in the War of the Revolution is entitled to recive seventy dollars per annum druing his natural life. ???on the 4th of March 1831 and pay roll semi annually of the 4th of March nd fourth of Sept in every year. Given at the War Office of the United States the 28th day of May, One thousand eight hundred and thirty six. examined and countersigned C A Harriss J L Edwards acting sectary of War Commissions of pensions. That the former and Daniel Smith resided in Burke CO. NC near Caldwell County and died on the 19th day of December 1840 leaving no widow and only two children these daughters who respectfully make application in order to obtain the due their father the said DANIEL SMith desc. under the certificate here to for reciets or any increase of pension to which the services of their father the said Daniel Smith may have entitled him.
