I am researching Starkey ancestors who (by all "family accounts") came to North Carolina from Virginia. John, Edward and Peter Starkey settled in Onslow & Carteret County along the White Oak River in the early to mid 1700's. All three were active in local and state government and many references are made of them in both county and state court records. As far as I know, John and Edward never married. Peter married Alice Wharton and also named sons John, Edward, and Peter (in addition to several others). I am decended from Peter and am desperately trying to trace the family - the brothers - before 1735 and their arrival in North Carolina. I would be very grateful if anyone can shine additional light on this branch of the Starkey clan!
