I am not related to these folks and know nothing more about them, but thought this tidbit might be of help to someone.

Tuesday, May 23, 1905, THE MONROE JOURNAL (Union County, N.C.)
-At Pelham, Caswell county, Friday, lightning struck a tree in the yard of James LOVELACE and then ran into a room in the house where Calvin GROOM and his two granddaughters were asleep in bed. Ada LOVELACE, eight years old, was killed outright and Mr. GROOM was seriously injured. A boy six years old escaped with slight injuries.
