Daniel Smith Hilton 1788 married Martha Walker, Cherokee

Daniel Hilton was listed as living in the Mouse Creek area in TN for the Cherokee removal of 1828. He is on the Emigration Roll with Major John Walker. His descendants have DNA tested Native American. Daniel Hilton appears on several letters to the Office of Indian affairs. The last found has been 1831 in Arkansas.

Cherokee applications say that he married Martha in Cherokee Co. NC. They also say that their kids were born in Cherokee CO. NC. The first Federal census for them is found in Blount CO. TN for the 1850 census.

The applications to the Cherokee Nation say that Martha was the Daughter of William and Katie Walker. We would like to find more on this family. Any help appreciated. Daniel and Martha are buried in Roane CO. TN. Our name changed in the Civil War to Helton. All of Daniel and Martha's boys fought in the Civil War.

Mike Helton
