Felix WELLS b. 1853 d. 1901 Need Ancestors

Looking for anything on Felix Jackson "Jack" Wells.

Born 1853 in Cherokee County, NC.
Died 1901 in Hiawassee, Cherokee Co, NC.

He married Sarah Curtis OR Coleman & had 8 children.

He is possibly the son of Mary MERIT (dau of Sarah & Felex Merit).
Mary Merit's spouse is unknown. In addition to Felix, she also has Martha (1859) and Joseph (1862).

I can find no other info on anyone mentioned above. I have all the descendants, but the ancestors is the problem. This has been a brick wall for 2 generations of researchers, myself looking for about 4 years.
