Looking for the details of land records from this area which names in them Francis Harrell and others.
The early land records dates in 1721 and Francis purchased land.. Need name of who he bought it from, and date the land bought also the simple details of where this land was located as well as any other person named in it and their function in the document. Believe it was a James Frye he purchased the land from but other details have been passed on about this docuement from several sources leave the date and location still not confirmed as have tree to five different places and at least tree dates off this record.
The next two show Francis Harrell sold lands first in 1731 then later in 1734 or 1735. Know there are only two land records showing he sold a section or sections of land between 1730 and 1731 but who he sold it to is a question need answered as most have said it Thomas Baker, and others say first it was Thomas Baker then a Richard White then a Richard Parker while others indicate these as witness to the deed or holding lands next to this land sold by Francis. About the only thing not confused it Francis being the one sold the land in North Carolina. Aslo that he sold it to person in Chowan being first himself from Nansemond county VA in the 1731 record as he was from in 1721 when he bought the land then in Bertie in 1734 or 1735 (know that Bertie was formed in 1722 from Chowan so this land possibly near the border of either and landed Francis in Bertie when it formed also know that Francis tracks back to Nansemond possibly a brother to Thomas Harrell of Thomas was his father just haven't fixed a relation here also possible Thomas, senior his father, and Thomas, junior his brother, as there were two living Thomas fitting the area and time period right for it).
As had limited information on the three deeds between 1720 and 1735 and due to later information said to be on same three from Edenton now need verified just what is what in these three deeds. Also the later deed has at least two dates on it and believe folks have turned one deed into two based on these two dates, one sale date and other record date inside a year 1734 of the other 1735 and also have made a witness the buyer and the buyer a witness or the clerk depending on who has the information to pass on about these land records.
Anyone who can check these land records need following off them:
1) Name of Saler and Buyer..
2) Date of Sale -- Date of Recording and any other dates found in the records
3) Location and amount of the land and person(s) who might hold lands next door to it.
4) Names of clerks and witness to these land records, please indicate who was what.
5) Also where buyer and saler claim from compared to where land record filed per it and today.. Know they all filed today in Edenton Chowan County NC and show person from Nansemond County VA and Bertie NC (not sure if this still listed as a District when it noted or a county since it was early on a district in Chowan County before separate county next to Chowan under Nansemond VA).
As have gotten in past varied details about these please help only if you can visit the courthouse in Edenton and see the actual land redords there and not some on line listing of them. I've tried to find these in the NC online MARS site but they get land records all around these but they don't come up on it in Chowan nor even in Bertie. Also these have not been found on VA on line state related record sites.
