HARDY, WILLIAM (son of Lamb)

I am Al Metts of San Antonio. My friend, Earle Hardy, has
been researching his Hardy line for a long time. My wife is
helping him with DAR papers for his daughter. By any lucky
chance, do you have any proof that a William ( son of Lamb)
Hardy was a Justice of the Peace during the Revolutionary War? William was born in 1729 in NC and died in 1785 in Bertie County, NC.
Entries for this William have that "son of Lamb" with his name because there were so many men named William Hardy! This one document is a problem. William's father was not named "Lamb" !! Odd? Yes!! The William lived in Chowon County, NC. William was born in 1729. His father was Lemuel Hardy. I will appreciate a response.
