Can someone help me understand one of Chowan Co. deeds? "Joseph Jessop of Perquimans Prct. to William Coward, Chowan Prect. 15 Apr. 1718 ASSIGNMENT of 200 acres, joining ..."
Could someone explain the meaning of ASSIGNMENT in this deed? There is no mention of money or other goods, so I wondered if William Coward paid for it; etc.
Would appreciate any help with this.
