I am searching for information on the families of John M. Standin & Simeon Standin of Edenton, NC. John M. Standin married Rosa Peltier Jan. 25, 1829 in Halifax County, North Carolina. and this marriage was reported to the court house on Sunday Jan. 26, 1829 by a M. Standin. John and Rosa were found in Hardin County, TN in the 1840 census and from 1845, 1850 and 1860 they are found in Tishomingo County, MS.
Simeon Standin married Harriet Warren April 26, 1826 in Chowan County, NC and their marriage was reported by M. Standin as well. I believe that John and Simeon were brother and may be son of Henderson Standin and Frances Lee Blount. I find Henderson in Chowan County in 1810, I do not find Henderson in 1820 but do find a John Standin there and it may be possible that this is the father of John & Simeon. There was a Henderson I. Standin who passed away in Edenton Feb. 14, 1828. this was reported by a D. Standin at Edenton. The Standin family it seems scattered through the Northeast corner of North Carolina and going back to Perquimans County, Frist names that were common in the Standin family are, Henderson, Samuel, John, William , Edward & Deborah and several others. It is vaery hard to piece together the family in the 1700s to the 1850, Part of the family went to New York. The last name has been spelled Standin, Standing, Standon, Standen, if you can help me please email me at mscrape@centurytel.net Thanks Michael
