Seeking information on George W. Barney, born Rhode Island.
Bill of Sale, 1828, purchased property from Elizabeth Horniblow, Bill of Sale Recorded in Edenton, Chowan County, North Carolina.
Married Mary Haughton 03-03-1829; married Elizabeth Ann Haughton 11-03-31 in Chowan County, North Carolina.
Appears in Marengo County, Alabama Census in 1850, 1860, 1870 (Horse Creek area). Appears on 1850 Slave Schedule as Owner of Slaves.
Purchased land in Demopolis, Marengo County, Alabama.
Any information would be appreciated. We believe when he left North Carolina he transported slaves purchased from Elizabeth Horniblow and possibly a free black man and his wife with him to Marengo County, Alabama.
