History of Mount Gould located near Chowan River-west bank

I am seeking some historical information about Mount Gould located on Highway 45 just north of US 17. I understand it was originally named Mount Galland after Penelope Galland wife of William Maule(d 1726). To the east of Mount Gould is a landing on the west bank Chowan River designated as Mount Gould Landing. Was this originally named Maules/Mauls/Malls Landing? If there is a Chowan Co. Heritage book I would appreciate a lookup in case its history is documented. This is located in present day Bertie Co. but original land grants may have been issued in Chowan Co.
Thanks for any help.
