In 1850 Craven Co, your James, Lucy, Mary and Martha are listed as is William, however, in ancestry.com he is transcribed as "William S Wymre", along with wife Elizabeth and son William shown as 5/12 mos old. Sometimes, ancestry.com slaughters the surname so badly that you have to search by first name!

This is the exact family as Elizabeth's in 1840 even though one daughter and the wife's birth range aren't perfect matches

My guess would be that William/Betsey could be parents of Stephen Winn. Stephen/Elizabeth Jones Winn are parents of James & William and, as you can see, their marriage records are also here, so you know who Caleb & William Y's mother was, now. Most likely, Tryphena is one of their sisters.
I descend from Thomas Wynne line of Henrico Co and Lunenburg Co, VA and given that many of the Wynne's went "south" I would try to connect to them, if I were you. I did not find any Wynn, Wynne nor Winn's on the 1810 or 1820 Craven Co census.
