Thanks for responding, Paul. I'm a little disappointed--as I suspect Hilary Daugherty from Raleigh will be as well. We were hoping that this Robert was the descendant of Owen Daugherty's first family, but it looks like he's not. I had begun to suspect that, after talking at some length with Loretta Daugherty Lewis of Dover, NC. At any rate, if he's Ephraim's son, then I can go back to Owen Daughety, Owen Dougharty, and Owen Dogharty, Robert's ancestors for 4 generations back. You asked about the book. I've finished down through about 1850, in terms Owen Daughety's first family and in terms of Ephraim's siblings, Robert and Daniel, and Ephraim himself. I say "finished." What I mean by that is that I have the best first draft that I can get at this point. I've sent copies of those parts of the chapter out to all the folks in the book group as I've finished them, but have not really gotten much feedback. I'm working on the Reuben section now. Will probably have to make a trip to Mississippi and Alabama as soon as school gets out. And then I will do the section on Holland. After that point, I'll start a new chapter on the next generation and will revert back to Owen Daughety's first set of children--the next generation of their children living in Craven and Lenoir Counties. I've reached a point where I'm hoping folks will have family stories that they can share. That will make the book so much more interesting that just recounting census information, contracts for deed, wills, and the like. Any help that you can give along the way would be MOST appreciated. And PICTURES are always good! Notify Administrator about this message?
