Dale,

I too have a White line from Craven Co NC (Vincent b. 1767) and wanted you to know there were at least two lines of Whites, around the time your James E White was born, both with Samuels.

One, I believe belongs to my line and the other was Samuel White, son of Samuel White (Sr) & (Sarah, I think)Whichcote, and brother to Whichcote/Whichcoat White & Benjamin White. The 3 brothers came to Craven Co by 1769, from MD. It seems they may have been there as early as 1767 or so.

The Samuel White that I mentioned may be from my line was a witness on a deed in 1760 (too early to be the MD White), in which Robert White SR gave sons Robert JR and John (my line) and a son in law, John Tuten land.

Later a Samuel White is mentioned as "son in law" and co-executor along with Jacob Rhem(m)for Jacob's father's (Melcher Rhemm) will. Records for my White line seem to connect to Craven, Jones & Dobbs/Lenoir Co, NC. Strong evidence suggests that Robert White JR is the same Robert White of Dobbs/Lenoir Co. My line and a sister migrated through SC, then my line went to GA, then both he and his sister end up in AL in the 1830's.

Check out he family trees on your James E White and see if you find him listed with any of the MD Whites as there is quite a bit of info on Benjamin, and some on Samuel & Whichcote. If you find no connection, then perhaps your James E belongs to one of my Whites.

Faye
