Hi Jo,

Yes, I saw that and believe it's the same one. That would have made him born abt 1844 so he would have been around 16-18 when he was in the Civil War.

My friend is from Craven County, but is new to genealogical research. And as am sure you are aware, getting data on African-Americans in that time frame is difficult. I helped her look back in her own line back to about 1830 and she and a couple of her family are striking out on their own to get more.
