My family puzzle of Craven Co., NC William Kellum, planter of Accomack Co., VA, bought land in 1752 next to Hardy Bryan on one side and Mary Fern on the other in New Bern. Lewis "Bynum" is my trouble. I have a Nicholas Booty who has signed as Witness with Lewis Bryan in Craven 1750. I believe that he is an older Nicholas Booty from Hyde Co., NC, relative of Peter Booty who married Sarah Sanderson. Peter and Sarah's son, Nicholas Booty, in 1796, was deeded land on the south side of Trent River along Brice Creek. Wit: by Lewis "Bynum" and Richard Fosuce; Attested by Samuel Chapman. In the 1798 Estate Sale of Sarah Booty, Nicholas Booty, George Kellum (our line) and "Lewis Bynum" were bound to the court for 100 pounds. Nicholas being the Admin. Sam Chapman, Wit. One of these Nicholas Booty's was a bondsman for George Kellum and Rachel Booty's marraige in Craven Co., NC, 1792. Someone has Lewis "Bynum" (b. c1773) with wife Fannie Foscue. And, some think that Sarah Sanderson married a Foscue before Peter Booty. I have found nothing to support that, but Sarah's mother was a Sarah Foscue, d/o Simon Foscue - Will of 1751. Some of the names in the Peter Booty Estate Sale were: Sam Chapman; John Warden; Frederick, William, & John Foster James Smith, Jacob Sikes, William Ives, Stephen Hersogg, ? Caponethion?,Jacob Johny?, Benj. T?, John Parkinson, John Knits?, William Bryan (Sheriff?). Would like to find more on the BRYAN/BYNUM's and if this William Kellum could be the father of George Kellum. Many of these families came earlier from Hyde Co., NC and may moved from Accomack Co., VA before that. Any response would be welcomed. Anita Notify Administrator about this message?
