Arthur, I am glad to have found you. In doing my research, I found many posts from you but nothing in the past couple of years. Your posts gave me many clues in my work and I thank you for that. I do have some further information if you are interested and a photo of a cenotaph erected by the DAR to the memory of Aaron Smith in the cemetery at Due West, SC. You might also be interested in the plat map created by Bob Thompson which shows the location of Ezekiel's farm. I am still pursuing information about the Smiths in North Carolina but haven't gotten very far. It is possible that this will require an on-site trip. My research information co-incides with yours except in a couple of instances. I don't have any verification of Aaron Smith's birthplace or birth date. And I don't have any verification of the surviving sister. Can you point me to some documentation for these? I know that one of the grown daughters, Laurenna Neal (also spelled Lourenna) who was apparently visiting was killed that day. Her husband Patrick Neal was a rebel and was killed in August of that year. The rest of the Neal (or Neel) family ended up in Mississippi. My line is Aaron Smith, Thomas Keeling Smith, Hampton Sidney Smith, John Morgan Smith, Hampton Sidney Smith, Hewitt Smith. This line of Smiths ended up in Alabama. Anyway, good to hear from you.
