Vanessa,

I have been trying to find the parents of my husband's great great grandmother Lowisa O'Neal Hines. She was born May 31, 1838 and lived in Kitty Hawk. She married Lemuel Hines in about 1860 and together they had five children. Since there were few O'Neals in that area in the early/mid 1800s, I am investigating to see if Nathan and Mary Tillett O'Neal are her parents. If Nathan was born in 1805, and Mary in 1810, they are in the right location at the right time.

I had found a Louisa O'Neal b. bet. 1834-1840 who was the daughter of Christopher O'Neal of Currituck Co. (the Hatteras area I'm quite sure). But after further investigation I found her married to someone else.

Do you have a copy of the Currituck Co. Census records of 1850 where you could check to see if they had a daughter named Lowisa/Louisa.

By the way...my Lowisa is buried on Kitty Hawk Road on the Tillett property between the Catholic Church and the Methodist Church. It's on the left-hand side (from the beach) up on a little sand hill. There is only one tombstone on the hill; although Lemuel is buried there also marked with a rock, and there are several other gravesites marked with rocks.

Hope you get this!

Leslie Hines
