The first mention I have of Currituck County, was when Robert Heath married Margaret Unknown, in 1770. Before that the Heath Family, mine, lived in Princess Anne County, N.C.

They had 5 children;

James Heath
Mary or Margaret Heath
Rilane or Rilan Heath
Robert Heath
Elizabeth Heath

Robert Heath died Jan 25, 1795, in Currituck County.

My direct Heath line is through James I. Heath, born in Surrey, England in 1652. He married Anne Unknown, born in 1656 in England. James I. was either deported in 1685 to 'America" as being a rebel, or in 1684 to Maryland for being a Jacobite Loyalist. He was sold in Maryland, as an endentured servant. I don't know where he went. The next time James name appears is in land records on 21 Oct 1687, when he received a land patent for 550 acres Norf. Co. in Corretuck Precinques on East side of the North River, adjacent Joseph Chase on the Back Bay, for transporting 11 persons to the colonies.
I'm not sure when Anne and the children came to Va., as I don't have a last name. I did find an Anne Heath, but don't know for sure if she's the right one. Their chilren were;

James Heath, Jr. born in England in 1672.

Elizabeth Heath, born in England in 1670. She married Richard Eiland, 1709 in Princess Anne County, Va.

Robert Heath, born in 1681, princess Anne County, married Mary Hodges. He died before 1740.

Thomas Heath, born in England in 1670/71. Eldest Son.
