I am seeking information on a Flora family from Currituck County, North Carolina.
Jno. (John?) Flora, born about 1822, enumerated in the 1850 Census for Tull’s Creek District, Currituck County, North Carolina. He is my GGGGF. His wife’s name is unknown. His daughters were Nancy Flora, b. 11-27-1844 (my GGGM) and Amanda Flora, b. 3-1-1846, born in Currituck County, NC.
Nancy Flora is listed in the 1860 census, age 14, with the family of John and Mary Chery (possibly Cherry?), also in Tull’s Creek District, Currituck County, NC. Amanda Flora is listed in this same census as a domestic with the family of Henry Lee.
Nancy Flora married Patrick Henry Hodges, and they are enumerated in the 1880 Census for Butts Road District, Norfolk, VA. Their daughter Annie, sometimes listed as Anna, born 8-20-1876, is my GGM, and she married Quinton Trotman Burnham of Camden County, NC.
Annie Hodges Burnham and Quinton Trotman Burnham lived in the Great Bridge / Norfolk area of Virginia and are buried in Riverside Memorial Cemetery in Norfolk.
I do not know the names of John Flora’s wife, nor his parents. I couldn’t find John Flora after the 1850 Census, and his daughters appear to have been given as bondservants. Any help about this line is greatly appreciated! Thank you.
