I have a letter from Ivey Smith and Margaret Forbes' granddaughter,Lovie "Trix" Smith dated Aug 1978.
Lovie was the sister of my late husband's(Justin Tune) mother, Mary Margaret "Marie" Smith.
Trix married Paul Savage .
Marie married Horace Greeley "George"Tune.
Trix states that :

Knotts Island,N.C.

Beach,N.C.)
her mother --Lovy Adelia Cowell b Sept 17,1865
Camden Co.,N.C.
( she is buried at Smith Cemetery,Swan
Beach,N.C.)
her grandfather--Ivey Smith ( b abt 1815 as of censuses)
Margaret Forbes (b May 1820,
date found on 1900 census)
her grandfather--James Cowell
her grandmother--Mary Cowell
Ivey and Margaret are listed in the 1840,1850,1860,1880 censuses.
Margaret is listed in the 1900 census living with her daughter Caroline --married to Luke Barco.
Margaret is listed as being 80 years old and born May 1820,N.C.
She is not found in the 1910 census.
In the 1830 census for Currituck Co.,N.C. has:
Malachi Forbes with a daughter listed as 10-15
Caleb Forbes with a daughter listed as 10-15
Thomas Forbes with a daughter listed 10-15.
Have not found a will for a Forbes that lists a Margaret Forbes or Margaret Smith.
Am still looking for a deed.
I have found that James Cowell was the son of Benjamin Cowell and Amanda Ferebee.
Mary Cowell maiden name was Baxter.

Descendants of Herman Cornelius Smith, Sr.
Herman Cornelius Smith ,Sr.b. June 22,1880, d. Oct 12,1951 married Pattie Lee O'Neal b July 9, 1884 d, Dec. 27,1973.
Pattie was the daughter of Thomas and Canary O'Neal
Her sister Ida O'Neal married Edward Drinkwater.
I don't remember who send this to me.
Lily Edna Tillett b Mar 10 ,1911 d Sept 6, 1962. She married Victor Vain Daniels.
Children:
1.Maggie Daniels b Aug 15,1931 d. Sept 1,1972 married
Thomas L. Cannady
2.Victor V. Daniels, Jr b Aug 27,1932 d. Feb 10,1936
I some information on the Cowell,Ferebee,Dauge, and Cooper,White families.
