Hi Roger,
Some of that information in my reply should have been in a reply to another message on this site. Sorry for getting confused.( O'Neal/Tillett--they married into the Smith family)

On the Smiths they are living in Knotts Island in 1870
census.
Family 467
Ivy Smith
Margaret
Caroline
John
Edward
Abby
Samuel
Margaret
Sarah
In the 1880 census they are living in Fruitsville
Family 89
Smith, Ivey
Margaret
Lizabeth
Smith, Neley( Cornelius Frederick)son
Lovey (Lovie Adelia Cowell) daughter-in-law
Margaret is living with her daughter Caroline in the 1900 census. Ivey must have died between 1880 and 1900 but have not found a record of his death and Margaret must have died between 1900 and 1910 but have found no record of her death.
Have not found a marriage record either.
There is an obit for Herman Smith ,son of Cornelius and Lovie. It just memtions that he was their son.
There is a Revol War soldier named, Ivey Smith ( 2 are listed but I think they are the same man) But as I said NARA could not find any pension files on that Ivey Smith)
