Hi Again, There is a book entitled, "By a Line of Marked Trees" which has abstracts of the Currituck Deed books 1-3 in it. You may want to try Inter Library Loan (ILL) or if they won't loan it, have a library copy the pages with Smith references for you. I have a couple of other Currituck books being sent me on ILL. I will look in them for the Ivy Smith family. On the Rev. War files, yes the Nat Archives doesn't have everything that some states have. Also I have asked for search(s), given them valid unit #s, dates, etc and they say they cannot find anything. Funny, I have copies they sent earlier to my family or that they sent me on later requests. Also, one of my Forbes is shown in NC records as serving 1 year, but it was VA Federal unit, the dates in VA records are the same as the NC info. I have 5 ancestors that I qualified my Mother for DAR on. Getting the info and disproving they were not someone else was at times a challenge. It is easy to prove something you are trying to find but I try to disprove things so I know what I have is valid. On the marriage info, if the Smiths are not in the Currituck index some people went up to Norfolk for work, married and later came back. One family I checked this week, he was from Currituck, she VA, the children all b. in VA bet 1890-1910. The family was in 1900 VA census. He died 1908, then she and the kids moved back with his family in Currituck Co. The 1910 Census showed all born in NC!!! That is one of the reasons why I reprove things. Good luck, and I will let you know if I find anything on the Smiths in the books. Roger Notify Administrator about this message?
