My great grandfather was born 21 Aug 1881. My great grandmother's name was Susan Martin Bell. I don't believe she ever worked.
Unfortunately, prior to 1984, employees of the Civil Service Retirement System were not participants of the Social Security System.
He did have a younger brother who may have had a social security #. His name was Walter E. Bell (my g gf did not have a middle name) and he was born around 1886. I found him in the census working in Virginia as an automobile salesman and his wife's name was Dara. I checked my records and I don't have the year for the census I found him in. That's a good lead I could follow up on.
