Hello,
I'm looking for information on the Simmons family. I know my Aunt Dorothy Twiford lived in East Lake in an old house just before the bridge to Columbia. My Aunt Christine was married to Wilber Cahoon. My grandfather George Henry Simmons died in Gum Neck and I know most of my relatives are from that area. My dad did mentioned "Sis Clara" as he called her who lived in East Lake too. They have all passed on. My grandfather had been married twice. First time to Maud and their children: Belcher Simmons, Deward Simmons, Frank Simmons and Nancy Jane Simmons and sis Clara was Mauds daughter when she married my grandfather. Maud was a Spencer before. Then he married my grandmother Vera (Alvernie) Morris. I would love to know about her.
My Dad James Leonard Simmons told me stories about Buffalo City when he was a boy. Said his brother Deward Simmons make moonshine and was arrested. Deward married the Elizabeth City sheriff's daughter too.
Any information on my family would be very helpful.
