Looking for information regarding descendants of Ruth Caroline Varker WALL.
This Ruth Caroline Varker WALL was the last child of Thomas Varker and Mary Ann Wright Varker. Information based on her death certificate.
Ruth was born in all probability before 10 May 1854, based on the news account of Thomas's untimely death, which stated "leaves behind his wife and 6 children".
1860 Census - they are living in South Division, Davidson, North Carolina: M A Varker 38; James Varker 16; William H Varker 14; Elizabeth J Varker 13; Mary J Varker 11; John G Varker 8; Ruth Varker, 5.
1870 Census shows Ruth is at home with Mary Ann and is 14 years old, living in Silver Hill, Davidson Co.
1880 Census shows William Wall and Ruth married and living in Silver Hill, Davidson, Co. Ruth is 24, William is 26. They have one child, Mary I Wall, age 11 mos and living 2 doors down from Mary Ann and Sarah Varker

1900 Census shows William Wall (46) and Ruth C Wall (44) still in Silver Hill with two children, Georgia A Wall (15) and Ida W. Wall (13). No evidence of Mary. Indications under the category 'Mother of how many children' indicates 4 born, 3 living. I found no evidence of another child being born, according to all the available census's. Based on the 1910 census below, Mary I Wall may be the child that died, or she may have been married by this time. William and Ruth are living just down the street from Mary Jane and John G. Varker - one on either side of her.
1910 Census, Ruth C. Wall (54) is living in Silver Hill, widowed. No children living in her household. HOWEVER, she is living next door to John G. Varker, her brother.
Ruth Caroline Wall died 14 Dec 1913, according to her death certificate. Information on d/c indicates she (1) she is a widow; (20 can 'read & write'; (3) the 'Informant' was A. A. York, MD, who apparently did NOT know much about Ruth. He wrote 'Don't Know" at name and birthplace of father. Maiden name of mother is indicated as 'Mary Wright'; birthplace is indicated as 'Don't know'. Ruth died of Tuberculosis, having suffered from the disease for 3 years.
According to the Register of Deeds, Davidson Co., NC, "the original marriage licenses for the year 1876 are all gone but there is a listing in our index for WF Wall (from Davie County) who married RC Barker on 4/15/1876. They were married by J.P. Thomas Young. Witnesses were A.M. Young and H.L. Patience"
